Detailed Description

As an integral member of the Engineering team, the Engineering Support Technician will be functionally accountable to the Project Engineering Manager, but will assist the Planning Manager and Lead Planners on matters concerning progress recording and reporting, analysis, trending, and potential risk mitigation, with respect to compliance with Project processes and procedures.

The Engineering Support Technician will directly report to the Planning Manager.

Primarily, this role requires the incumbent to:

  • Work closely with Engineering to assist in recording progress against deliverables and activities
  • Work closely with procurement to ascertain forecast information on Vendor documents due for review and current Vendor documents within the Engineering team requiring review and review and return
  • Provide forecast workload plan based upon current/forecast man power in relation to engineering delivery requirements and Vendor reviews to enable engineering management to plan on a 30/60/90 day basis
  • Develop and maintain the progress and date information Master Document Register (MDR) in the PACESETTER environment, in conjunction with Engineering
  • Support Engineering with input, preparation, review, and status reporting on various administrative work processes such as Scope Change Control, MDR Change Control, Technical Exceptions, progress reporting etc.
  • Periodically required to provide detailed planning support for specific project scope using either MS Project or Primavera Software

To achieve this, Engineering Support Technicians will work with:

  • Engineering, Procurement and Document Control to prepare progress data and ensure that this is accurately reflected in PACESETTER
  • Change Management to ensure that the MDR captures and accurately reflects the current known scope, and highlights where engineering are not working to approved scope
  • Project Planning team to ensure that the current plan is accurately reflected in PACESETTER and the Planning are fully aware of potential or actual schedule issues.

Engineering Support Technicians will provide weekly, monthly and bespoke reporting as may be necessary to support the Engineering and Management Team.


Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining PACESETTER based MDR at the Area Level
  • Provide project reporting with regards to engineering progress
  • Ensure that current scope is accurately reflected in PACESETTER and assist with change management as necessary
  • Develop and maintain Project schedule
  • Provide current forecast and re-forecast dates for Area based deliverables, in consultation with Interface and Delivery Management, Engineering, Procurement and Project Controls
  • Provide one off bespoke reports and “what-if” schedules to support project requirements
  • Provide input to the MAC Monthly Reporting as necessary
  • Set up and maintain effective communications with all Delivery teams and key stakeholders
  • Provide support to the Interface Team as necessary with Area based reporting
  • Maintain engineering administrative registers in SharePoint and ensure that the status is always current

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Experience in Project Planning/Project Engineering/Project Controls
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Experience in working with Delivery Teams, Project Planning/Project Controls and Project Engineering
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, Primavera and other leading Planning Tools expected
  • Experience in working with databases desirable
  • Good numeracy skills, attention to detail, familiarity with similar MAC Offshore engineering design and installation an advantage
