We are looking for a Technical Safety Engineer as follows:

 

Job Title:                              Technical Safety Engineer - contract

Location:                              Chiswick with visits to Ghana and possibly Houston

Employment type:          Contract; initially part time, then full time

Duration:                             6 months, likely to be extended

TECHNICAL SAFETY ENGINEER

 

Job Purpose:

·         Act as Technical Safety expert

·         Provide input/define Technical Safety requirements

·         Complement / assist with Asset Integrity Management(AIM) assurance

·         Act as Project Interface with SSEA Process Safety Management resources

·         Peer review/provide assurance on technical safety issues

·         Coach leadership team on technical safety management

 

Responsibilities / Key Objectives:

·         Provide FEED scope and definition of deliverables

·         Ensure FEED contractor activities meets all IMS requirements

·         Identify critical issues and follow up corrective actions

·         Ensures “end to end” system integrity and facilities functionality

·         Communication to all stakeholders including preparation of reports as required

·         Lead and guide HAZID, HAZOP, SIL workshops and Layout Reviews and ensure design meets ALARP principle

·         Participate in incident investigations as required

·         Develop metrics, assurance processes and undertake audits in relation to technical safety

·         Review and assess all safety system designs including but not limited to the following

o   Safety Critical Elements

o   SIMOPS capabilities

o   Active fire protection

o   Passive fire protection and structural integrity

o   Fire water system

o   Hazardous Areas

o   Lifesaving appliances and safety equipment

o   Fire and Gas System

o   ESD System

o   Flare and blowdown system

o   Temporary refuges

o   Emergency Response & Preparedness 

 

·         Ensures that all work within the area of responsibility is adequately documented and lessons learned from other projects are captured

·         Even though currently deemed not essential, there may be requirement for field visits occasionally

 

Education /Experience/ Skills:

·         Higher Education level: BSc in a relevant engineering science or engineering degree.  10 years’ experience of Safety Engineering

·         Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent

·         Significant experience of site-based EHS leadership associated with brownfield modifications

·         FPSO experience

·         Well networked in the industry so that best practices may be sourced and applied as required

·         Major project experience, Operator experience is essential

·         Demonstrable specific experience in Owner/Operator of e.g.:

o   Track record of interfacing and co-ordination capability

o   Developed management and interpersonal skills with the capability to lead a cross functional team

o   Hands-on problem solving and rapid resolution of issues

o   Awareness and sensitivity to multinational exposures and cultures

o   Understanding and management of UK Installations Offshore Safety Case development including the development of SCE/ECE/Performance Standards and Independent Verification Body (IVB) Management

o   Technical Safety Management in a brownfield context

o   Risk assessment and Cost Benefit Analysis

o   Hazards, Effects and Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) management leading to the demonstration of ALARP
